ABITA SPRINGS, LOUISIANA
A Locals Guide to Abita Springs
Abita Springs derived from a Choctaw Indian Village taking the name of the nearby medicinal natural springs. The Town of Abita Springs is centralized around the town circle. Abita Springs is surrounded by charm and country living for those seeking a quieter lifestyle. Local attractions and businesses provide the small-town feel we all crave. Make sure to visit Abita Brewery, the local grocer Antigue’s Abita Market, and the local Abita Spring Art and Farmer Market.

Things to Do
Founded in 1986, the Abita Brewing Company is located right along the Abita Springs town line. Which makes it technically located in Covington, but given the history and ties to the community it still made our top attraction! After personally living in Abita Springs for many years, the Abita Taproom offers something for the entire family. (We’re talking house made sodas the kids and adults will love!) The taproom hosts many fun events throughout the year in addition to brewery tours to learn about the process of making the beer. It’s always a fun time for out of town guests.
Abita Springs Trailhead
The Abita Springs Trailhead in the center of town hosts many events throughout the year open to residents and guests alike! In the past as a resident of the community, I supported the weekly farmer’s market, celebrated on July 4th with the annual firework show, and many other festivals. The kid’s playground, the Abita Springs Trailhead Museum, and the Tammany Trace bike trail makes this one of the best places to spend a Saturday!
Antigue’s Abita Market
Okay, this may not be an attraction, but after living in the town of Abita Springs for many years I always enjoyed the small family-owned market. Offering all of the basics of a major grocer and the amazing lunch options, this small town market may be a favorite to cherish. The owners will get to know you by name- which is true southern hospitality of living in a small town!
